The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has lifted its national weather alert to level yellow, after having issued a white alert for local regions on Friday.

The MET Office issued a white alert for predicted heavy showers between 06:30 AM and 11:30 AM on Saturday near the Gaafu Alifu atoll and southernmost Addu City.

The service has predicted winds to gust at 23 to 29 miles per hour in the southern atolls.

Maldives is currently experiencing its ‘Hulhangu’ monsoon season, characterized by hot winds blowing from the south west and short showers.
