Male' City council to meet public on Wednesday
The council said they will hear the concern and obstructions faced by citizens during the meeting

President Yameen’s administration has taken away all the powers of the Male’ City council

Male’ City council has announced that they will be meeting with the capital city’s residents on Wednesday.

According to the government gazette, the meeting will be held at the council office at 8:30pm.

The council said they will hear the concern and obstructions faced by citizens during the meeting, and so called on everyone to come.

This is the first time that the council is meeting with the city’s residents. The decentralization act makes it mandatory for councils to meet with the public and discuss their work.

The Male’ City council consists of members of the main opposition party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), except for one.

President Abdulla Yameen’s administration has taken away all the powers of the Male’ City council and transferred them to different ministries.
