Residents of thirteen homes were given shelter
Heavy showers in the region caused immense flooding last Tuesday

Thimarafushi island's local government council has reached out to the National Disaster Management Center (NDMC) requesting compensation for damages caused in a recent flooding incident.

Residents of thirteen homes in the Thaa atoll have been given temporary shelter after heavy showers in the region caused immense flooding last Tuesday.

Ismail Ibrahim, the head of the island’s local government council, said that these residents are those from homes that were severely damaged by the turbulent weather there.

Ismail said all of the island’s streets were flooded and water had spread inside homes as well, causing damage to property.
