High Court voids order to return Villa's confiscated property in Hulhumalé
A Hulhumalé court had ordered that the land be returned
The Housing Development Corporation had appealed the order at the High Court
The Housing Development Corporation confiscated said plots in 2015 alleging breach of contract

The Maldivian High Court has on Wednesday voided a lower court order on a state-run company to return land it confiscated from Villa Group.

A number of plots in Hulhumalé, capital city Malé urban extension, was leased to Villa Group in an agreement it made with the state in 2005.

The Housing Development Corporation confiscated said plots in 2015 alleging breach of contract. The company had terminated its agreement with Villa Group.

Villa Group had filed a case against the company at a Hulhumalé court, which deemed that the company’s allegations of Villa Group breaching contract were false.

The Housing Development Corporation had appealed the case at the High Court.
