Parking banned in Male’ road leading to bridge for development

Housing ministry has banned parking in a large part of Boduthakurufaanu road for development.

A notice from the ministry states that the road in capital city Male’ leading to the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge will be closed for expansion.

Housing ministry stated that the part of the road between Marrybrown and the Hulhumale’ ferry terminal will be closed and developed completely and reopened before the opening of the bridge.

The government has cut down decades-old trees in the eastern part of Male’ and destroyed the Artificial Beach stage wall to expand Boduthakurufaanu road, which encompasses the capital city.

Male’ residents have complained of a lack of parking space during a time when roads are being closed-off for development work in the congested capital. The state receives millions in revenue for penalizing illegal parking, with the estimated yearly revenue from parking violations being placed in the state budget before the start of the year.
