MP Abdullah Riyaz was acquited of the charges last year
The parliamentarian is charged with refusing access to his phone as per a court order

The High Court will next schedule a hearing over the obstruction allegations put forth against Kinbidhoo constituency MP Abdulla Riyaz, to decide on the matter.

The court held a hearing over the case, which was appealed there by the state after the Criminal Court acquitted MP Riyaz, this morning.

The prosecution and the parliamentarian's lawyers disputed on Riyaz's arrest and detention.

Riyaz's lawyers had asked the court to clarify why the bench of adjudicators presiding over his case changed during proceedings, but the judge said such changes are common and has no immediate impact on the case.
