The police service has said that it was unable to find the Twitter user that had threatened to burn down RaajjeTV, and has filed-off the case until they receive more information.

In a letter on Sunday, the police service said it requested Twitter Inc. to disclose the owner of the account but that the company has not yet responded.

The threats to RaajjeTV escalated in February after the Supreme Court ordered the release of political prisoners and President Abdulla Yameen in turn declared a state of emergency.

While senior government and ruling party officials called on authorities to shut down RaajjeTV, some government supporters take to social media to threaten to burn down the TV station, which has already suffered an arson attack.

A group led by Velidhoo MP Abdulla Yameen were also seen calling to burn down RaajjeTV during a pro-government rally that month.

Afterwards, RaajjeTV was forced to termporarily shut down their regular broadcast due to the danger to the staff.
