New Radiant Sports Club has managed to secure six points in its group for the AFC Cup after having been victorious in its match against India’s Aizawl F.C on Wednesday.
New Radiant defeated Aizawl with a difference of 3-1, owing primarily to Ali ‘Dhangadey’ Ashfaq’s three consecutive goals.
The match kicked off with commendable play from both teams, and Aizawl scored the first goal on the 34th minute of the match.
New Radiant’s Dhanagadey, hailed as one of the best players in South Asia, scored a tie-maker just six minutes later, and the first half ended with a score of 1-1.
The local club showed a stronger play in the second half, which coupled with the fact that Aizawl’s forward had been given a red-card gave the team a strong advantage.
Dhangadey scored his team’s second goal on the 75th minute of the match and he completed his hat-trick with a third goal ten minutes later.
The group stage match was held on Wednesday evening at the Galolhu Stadium in capital city Malé.
