Police apprehended a total of 10 individuals at the allied opposition parties' demonstration in capital city Malé on Wednesday.

The Maldives Police Service told RaajjeMV that nine of these individuals had been arrested for obstructing the conduct of the police.

The tenth individual was apprehended for allegedly having hurled used engine oil at officers.

Police arrested a number of prominent opposition members at the demonstration, including for Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam and a number of sitting lawmakers.
