Maldives Embassy cautions residents in Sri Lanka over state of emergency
The embassy asked residents in Kandy, Sri Lanka to refrain from travelling unless necessary
They have also asked residents there to abide by any directions given by Sri Lanka authorities

The Maldivian Embassy in Sri Lanka has asked residents in Kandy of Sri Lanka to exercise extreme caution during the ongoing state of emergency.

The embassy asked, through a series of tweets tagging Ambassador Mohamed Shareef's account, residents in Kandy to refrain from traveling about and going out of their homes unless absolutely necessary.

The embassy also asked residents there to abide by any directions given or procedures layed out by Sri Lankan authorities.

The Sri Lankan government imposed a state of emergency, for the first time since its civil war, for a 10-day period following violence between the Muslim and Singhalese Buddhist communities in Kandy.
