Authorities brought MP Ahmed Mahloof, who has been detained since February, to Malé from detention.
Photographs that surfaced on Twitter late Tuesday show Mahloof being escorted onto a speed boat docked at a harbour in the capital city.
Witnesses have stated that Mahloof was put in a vehicle at about 22:13 on Tuesday, although they could not clarify what institution the vehicle was registered to, or if it belonged to the state at all.
Mahloof’s lawyer Nazim Sattar said that he had not been informed of his client being brought to Malé.
While Nazim said that his attempts to acquire clarification on the matter has been to no avail, Mahloof’s wife Nazra Naseem posted a Tweet expressing concern over the matter.
“I do not understand why Mahloof has to be brought to Malé, as if he was a hostage” her post reads, adding the police had not answered her calls either.
At the time of publishing, RaajjeMV has also been unable to acquire a comment about the matter from the police.
Mahloof was arrested at the opposition rally on February 24th, and police earlier said he would be kept in incarceration for 28 days.
