Pakistani authorizes have this week confiscated a total of 20 kilograms of drugs from a couple who attempted to smuggle some of it to the Maldives.
The couple were caught with 10 kilograms of what authorities have specified to be heroin, in powder form, at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
Customs officials searched their luggage after suspicious arose over the manner in which it had been packed. Authorities searched their home in Karachi and found an additional 10 kilograms.
The couple were en route to the Maldives from Dubai and stopped at their native nation in transit.
In the Maldives, the street price of one gram of heroin is at least MVR 1,200, making the amount confiscated from the couple worth over MVR 24 million.
