The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party branch in Thinadhoo island of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll has been asked to take down the party flag at its headquarters.
Former MP Mohamed Nazim, who represented the Madaveli constituency, told RaajjeMV that the owner of the property where the flag is hoisted on a 70-foot tall post has been informed to do so.
The owner was informed of this by the police station in Thinadhoo island, but Nazim has said that the property is rented out to the party and that they will not comply with the request.
The Maldives Police Service has similar forced the party’s branches in Kanditheemu, Manadhoo, and Kulhudhuffushi to take down their flags.
