Police have accused South-Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof of assaulting military guards at the parliament building.
Mahloof was arrested at the anti-government protest on February 24.
His lawyer Nazim Sattar said that he had exercised his right to silence during the questioning, because "this has nothing to with current arrest and the case has passed the 30-day limitation period". Sattar also accused Chief of Defence Force, General Ahmed Shiyam of "instigating" the case.
Police said they are investigating a case regarding Mahloof’s alleged assault of soldiers guarding the parliament building on 31 July 2017.
Mahloof allegedly violated the Penal Code’s Section 532 – Resisting or Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer or Custodial Officer, Section 533 – Obstructing Administration of Law or Other Government Function, and Section 120 – Assault.
