Parliament to review Fenaka MD for EC membership
His name will be sent to the relevant parliament committee for review on Monday’s sitting
One of the seats in EC became vacant after the resignation of its president Ahmed Suleiman
There were rumors a while back that transferring Suleiman and appointing Shareef to EC had already been planned

The President has requested parliament to approve Ahmed Shareef, the MD of Fenaka Corporation, for membership at the Elections Commission (EC).

His name will be sent to the relevant parliament committee for review on Monday’s sitting.

One of the seats in EC became vacant after the resignation of its president Ahmed Suleiman, who is now the president of the National Integrity Commission (NIC).

Shareef had previously worked as the secretary general of EC and was also a member of President Abdulla Yameen’s party, the People’s Alliance (PA).

There were rumors a while back that transferring Suleiman to NIC and appointing Shareef to EC had already been planned.
