Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon’s court hearing has been cancelled on Sunday.

Faris is being charged with the unauthorized use of the flag and logo of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) while speaking on behalf of the party at a press conference in March last year.

Criminal Court did not disclose the reason for cancelling the hearing, in which the court was set to approve some of the 47 witnesses proposed by the defense.

Two more hearings will be held after this one, which are on hearing testimonies from witnesses presented by the defense, and on both sides giving their summary statements.

Faris, who is in police detention, is also being charged with bribing fellow lawmakers.
