Police have assaulted RaajjeTV journalist Murshid Abdul Hakeem while covering Saturday’s anti-government protest near Artificial Beach.
RaajjeTV’s live feed showed five police officers separating him from the cameraman before the assault.
He was then taken away by the officers but was released a few minutes later.
In an interview with RaajjeTV, Murshid said police had pushed him into the ground and held him down with their legs while cuffing him, and that the officers had taunted him throughout the ordeal.
Murshid said that the officers did not cite any legal grounds for arresting him and that they did so just to get him away from the area.
