Criminal Court has scheduled a hearing on Sunday regarding Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon’s identity fraud case.
At the hearing, to be held at 2:30pm, the court will approve some of the 47 witnesses proposed by the defense.
State prosecutors objected to many of the witnesses giving their testimonies.
Faris is being charged with the illegal use of the flag and logo of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) while speaking on behalf of the party at a press conference in March last year.
Two hearings will be held after the one on Sunday, which are on hearing testimonies from witnesses presented by the defense, and on both sides giving their summary statements.
Faris, who is in police detention, is also being charged with bribing fellow lawmakers.
