ACC decides not to pursue corruption case involving ex-VP Adeeb and a Sri Lankan politician
The case was filed to the commission by an individual
He alleged Adeeb had used state funds to invest in a business
The commission decided to not investigate the matter after having failed to acquire further information

The Anti-Corruption Commission has declined to investigate allegations of corruption put forth against ex-vice president Ahmed Adeeb.

The case was filed to the commission by an individual who alleged that Adeeb had used state funds to invest in a business run by a former defence minister of the Sri Lankan government.

The individual also alleged that part of the monthly income garnered through said investment is still deposited to another individual residing in Sri Lanka.

The commission decided to not investigate the matter after having failed to acquire further information.

The former vice president is currently serving a jail term of over 30 years on multiple allegations. He has been sentenced to a total of eight years for a corruption case involving the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation.
