Adhaalath Party (AP) has said it is deeply concerned about leader Imran Abdulla’s deteriorating health condition.

The opposition party on Twitter cited experts as saying that his condition may worsen if left neglected.

AP said a medical examination two months ago showed that Imran’s blood sodium is at a critical level and that the doctor has prescribed a follow-up examination since then.

Authorities have repeatedly ignored the concerns addressed by Imran and his family and are neglecting the issue, said the party.

Imran was found guilty of terrorism-related charges and given a 12-year prison sentence for encouraging violence in the mass-government protest, the May Day rally in 2015.
