Ben Emmerson QC appointed as legal adviser to allied parties
The parties have agreed to appoint a team of lawyers to represent their interests to the United Nations.
Emmerson will be providing advice in their discussions with the government
The parties have called on the UN Secretary-General to mediate dialogue with the government

The allied opponents of the government have appointed British lawyer Ben Emmerson, also of the Queen’s Council, to represent them.

The parties have agreed to appoint a team of lawyers to represent their interests to the United Nations.

The parties, who collectively refer to themselves at the Joint Opposition, revealed this in a staemenrt on Monday. 

The Joint Opposition said Emmerson will be providing advice in their discussions with the government. 

The parties have called on the UN Secretary-General to mediate dialogue with the government. 

Emmerson is also a former UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Counter-Terrorism.
