MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa has denied that Monday’s committee sitting was conducted behind closed doors despite having the press barred from entering.

The North-Kulhudhuffushi constituency lawmaker said that the sitting had been open and that he does not know why the press had been barred.

Parliament’s security personnel told journalists that attended the sitting on Monday that the parliamentary secretariat had decided against allowing the press access.

They had cited the ongoing state of emergency in the country, to say that journalists will not be allowed in.

The parliamentary sessions for this year was inaugurated at the Dharubaaruge last week, must later than the pre-decided date.
