Pro-government lawmaker MP Riyaz Rasheed has made a set of boastful proclamations, where he implies that his rivals in parliament are less seasoned with the intricacies of politics.

MP Riyaz said, while speaking at a pro-government rally on Sunday night, that parliamentarians aligned with the allied opponents of the government are less experienced.

Riyaz said that these parliamentarians cannot plot and achieve as much as those aligned with the government have, ‘in parliament, in court, and on the streets’.

“There is nothing, not one single thing that they can do that we have not done already” Riyaz said at the rally.

Referring to what the government describes as a ‘judicial coup’ and the ongoing constitutional crisis in the Maldives, Riyaz said that he does not fear the circumstances of the present.

Riyaz further said that said circumstances were instigated by his political rivals, and that he had ‘expected as much from them’.

The parliamentarian went on to say that President Abdulla Yameen’s presidency can only be ended if those as ‘competent’ as his current peers do so, and that the current opposition to the government cannot.
