Jumhoree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim has called on the people of Maldives to rally in capital city Male’ to save the ‘nation and religion.’

Qasim, who has been living in Germany since fleeing a prison conviction, said this in a phone interview with RaajjeTV on Saturday.

In the interview, Qasim said every citizen should come out to support the reform effort.

He slammed President Abdulla Yameen for criticizing a ‘perfect’ Constitution, and said that the state cannot fool a capable and aware citizenry. 

Qasim also urged the security forces to abide by the Constitution, after asserting that there is no longer a state of emergency.

He also assured that the Supreme Court judges, who had ordered the release of political prisoners, were not paid-off.
