Maldives Police pulls down Facebook page violating rights of children
The police said the page was deleted hours after they requested as such with Facebook
The service further said that they are investigating the page’s administrators

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has pulled a page on Facebook that posted photographs of local minors accompanied by derogatory captions.

The police said the page was deleted hours after they requested as such with Facebook’s regional office in Asia, on Sunday night.

The service further said that they are investigating the page’s administrators and that it is a criminal offense.

The page, which appeared on Facebook last year, was used to upload photographs of minors, mostly young girls, with by heavily sexualized captions.

The administrators had also accepted and encouraged, through reactions, comments on these posts that were equally as derogatory.
