Former President Mohamed Nasheed says that former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb should be granted appropriate health care.
In a tweet posted on Thursday, President Nasheed saud that the state’s refusal to grant him proper medical care was ‘inhumane’.
Appropriate healthcare must be provided to former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb. It is inhumane to deny it.

Adeeb had been in custody of Maldives Police Service (MPS) since March 2017, under a special order from Home Ministry. MPS said that they were providing security, while Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) was in charge of medical care.
Family and lawyers for the former VP say that his life is in critical danger. He was diagnosed with glaucoma, internal cysts and kidney stones following his arrest.
His doctors have recommended flying him abroad for medical treatment. However, the state had refused to grant this, citing that if Adeeb was allowed to flee then he would flee and in that event there would not be a way to recover the millions grafted from the state.
