Some say Siyam’s praise of First Lady had exceeded limits

Leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and Meedhoo Constituency MP Ahmed ‘Sun’ Siyam has once again exceeded in praise of First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, so far as stating that she specialized in ‘making the abled, disabled’.
Speaking in the ceremony held to mark an end to the Circumcision Camp on Wednesday night, Siyam said the biggest gift for the Maldivians from the Almighty was that ‘is the First Lady’.
Referring to her as a queen, Siyam said the First Lady specialized in ‘making the abled, disabled’, ‘empowering women’ and ‘demonstrating kindness’.
The ceremony was broadcast on national TV. The First Lady was seen first shocked and then smiling and covering her face.
This is not the first time Siyam had made such a proclamation. Back in 2016, Siyam said that the Almighty had created several palaces for the First Lady in Paradise. His statements, then and now, had attracted criticism of many.
While the latest proclamation was probably a slip of the tongue, many such as Maldivian Democratic Party’s Deputy Leader Mohamed Shifaz said that at last, a truth was spoken.
Shifaz also questioned why this was not being investigated by the Police.
