The Criminal Court has scheduled a hearing over the bribery allegations put forth against MP Faris Maumoon for Wednesday.
The trial proceedings, over which the parliamentarian has been remanded until sentencing, are yet in the interim stages and the last hearing for it was held on November 5th.
Faris’ legal team has put forth a total of 23 requests, 15 of which have been overseen by the court. Wednesday’s hearing will oversee the 16th to the last of these.
The Dhiggaru constituency parliamentary representative has been alleged to have bribed parliamentarians ahead of a vote of no-confidence he submitted against parliament speaker Abdulla Maseeh.
