Criminal Court to resume after recess on Tuesday

Criminal Court is set to open on Tuesday after coming out of recess.
The Court has been in recess since December 16.
Recess is a period in which the courts reduce or halt judicial work and focuses on administrative tasks. Different courts head to recess at different times.
During recess, Criminal Court had still carried out detention orders on suspects and improvements in its administration, it said.
Criminal Court has scheduled 41 cases, notably the murder of Ismail Umar whose body was found at the HA Ihavandhoo Ice Plant, and the assault case near Alcyon Bakery.
Other cases include drug, theft, and illegal entry.
