State expenses in November were lower than the MVR 18.2 billion it earned, the Finance Ministry has revealed.
The ministry’s month-end report revealed that while the state spent MVR 18.01 billion, it had garnered a total of 18.2 billion, and acquired, according to the report, MVR 277.6 million.
The government received parliamentary approval for a budget of 27.9 billion for 2018, exceeding the record it set with a budget of 26.7 billion for 2017.
Even with the record budget, the government had to ask for a supplementary budget at the end of the third quarter this year.
Pro-government parliamentarians were able to pass a supplementary budget of MVR 493 million, which would make what the government received this year in excess of MVR 27.3 billion.
