Police suspends operation in Gaafu Dhaalu Madaveli
An official from the police said that this decision is part of the law enforcement body’s efforts to expand its operations

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has stopped all its operations in Madaveli island of Gaafu Dhaal Atoll.
An official from the police said that this decision is part of the law enforcement body’s efforts to expand its operations and cut expenses.
The official said that as such the MPS has now adopted a ‘cost sharing’ medium with local government councils.
However, the official has said that such an agreement could not be reached with Madaveli’s council, and emphasized on the support the police require from local government bodies.
