This is not just political rhetoric
Joint opposition seeking to restore lost rights

Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Hassan Latheef says that he was ready to compromise if it meant that the end result was the defeat of President Yameen and a resolution to the political crisis in the Maldives.

He made the statement in the panel discussion held by the joint opposition on Tuesday evening.

He said that the joint opposition was ready to compromise whereever possible, leaving aside their personal and political differences. Latheef said the joint opposition was steadfast in their determination to defeat President Yameen and bring a resolution to the political crisis in the Maldives.

Hassan Latheef added their work to secure rights is paramount. Stating that this was not mere political rhetoric, Hassan stressed that all citizens must have equal rights, opportunities and adequate housing.

He added that development is not synonymous with centralization, in reference to the present Government's policy of amassing citizens to areas such as Hulhumale'.
