Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Mohamed Shainee has met with local fishermen, from across the country, to commemorate fishermen’s day, observed nationally.
The official fishermen’s day celebrations this year are being held at Ihavandhoo island of Haa Alif Atoll, and fishermen from all over the Maldives have gathered there.
The government had hosted a ceremony with flag-hoistings and speeches, and Ihavandhoo’s local government council said that the fishermen are to have a celebratory event on Saturday night.
This is the 37th fishermen’s day marked since the government, and celebrations were held in Gemanafushi island of Gaafu Alif Atoll.
