The criminal charges against Ahmed Farhaan, who was arrested in Addu City after he made a public prayer (D’uaa) against ‘tyranny’, has reached sentencing.

The Hithadhoo Magistrate Court scheduled the hearing against Farhaan, who was arrested in August last year, for Tuesday and is to be held at 14:15.

The prosecution has put forth charges of ‘obstructing the conduct of a state official’ and was apprehended on 12th August, moments after he concluded his prayer.

The maximum sentence that the court can pass against Farhaan is a jail term of four months and 24 days.
