2013 Presidential Elections
Pres. Nasheed calls to investigate claims of voter fraud for 2013
Senior Police official claimed elections was rigged

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has called onto launch an investigation into the claims that the 2013 Presidential elections were rigged.

In a tweet posted in Dhivehi, the former President said several, including a senior official of Maldives Police Service (MPS), had reported elections for 2013 were rigged. He called onto form an independent commission to investigate these claims.

Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) had previously claimed the last Presidential elections were rigged. Nasheed, then had accepted the results which had ushered in incumbent President Abdullah Yameen to office. President Yameen had claimed a win with just around 5,000 votes.

The first round of elections was nullified following a Supreme Court ruling. Subsequent rounds were held under a set of guidelines issued by the apex court.
