Maumoon siblings ordered to pay MVR 2 million in RCC case
Civil Court ordered the full amount must be paid in 30 days
Siblings denied charges
Claimed the building was substandard

Civil Court has ordered the four children of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom to pay up MVR 2.1 million to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC), a company owned by the family of former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim.

Ahmed Faris Maumoon, Ghassan Maumoon, Yumna Maumoon and Dunya Maumoon are listed as co-respondents of the case.

RCC had filed case against the four, citing that a seven-story building was constructed on Chaandhanee Magu but that they were not paid for the work.

Civil Court verdict stated that there was sufficient evidence to prove the four had to pay the company and ordered to pay up in a period of 30 days.

The four had denied the charges, citing that by delivering substandard work, RCC had violated the contract. They added they had to carry out extensive renovation on the building after handover, adding the renovations alone amounted to over MVR 2.1 million.
