Anti-Government banners removed from Maduvvari
Police had requested for a court order to remove banners
Issued for 72 hours
President Yameen scheduled to visit three islands in trip

Officers of Maldives Police Service (MPS) has removed anti-Government banners in Maduvvari island ahead of the visit under a court order.

The court order issued by Maduvvari Magistrate Court authorized the removal of banners, flags and loudspeakers. The court order was issued on request of MPS.

 

 

The order is valid for a period of 72 hours and issued on basis of a report received by Police.

Following this, all anti-Government banners had been removed. The banners had questioned on the unfulfilled pledges made for the island. Police had also restricted access to the port area.

President’s Office said in addition to Maduvvari, the President is scheduled to visit Meedhoo and Fainu islands in the Atoll

He is to inaugurate the sanitation and clean water system in the island and mark the end to the beach protection project.

Additionally, he will open the port in Fainu island. President Yameen will open the new mosque in Meedhoo island as well as the clean water and sanitation network.
