One of the four individuals injured in an accident in Addu City on Tuesday is in critical conditions and needs to be brought to capital city Malé, the Hithadhoo Regional Hospital has said.

The woman’s transfer has been scheduled for Wednesday evening, and was treated at the Hithadhoo hospital’s ICU.

A motorcycle crashed into another while it had attempted to turn into a road from Hithadhoo’s main road. Both motorcycles had a passenger.

"The woman's injuries were not fatal, there is a lot of potential for her recovery" Mohamed Najeeb, the Hithadhoo Regional Hospital's managing director said.

While the hospital is yet to release information on the others, an eyewitness said that one of the motorcycles had been ridden by a woman and that she had seemingly sustained head injuries.

An official from the hospital confirmed that they had treated four patients and that three of them are in stable condition.
