Inmate who suffered a stroke was recovering: Corrections

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has stated that the inmate who suffered a stroke was being treated in Male’ and that he was recovering.

Speaking to RaajjeMV Spokesperson for the Service Ahmed Luqman said the inmate was serving his sentence in Asseyri jail in Hinmafushi island. He was brought to Male’ at 3pm and immediately transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) Intensive Care Unit. He added the inmate was undergoing tests and was recovering.

Corrections also informed the inmate was a 47-year-old male serving a 20-year jail term.

RaajjeMV understands the inmate was jailed after he was proven guilty of molesting a minor. He had also suffered a stroke previously.
