A youth has been arrested in connection to the murder of Haris Abdul Ghafoor (24) of Gold Leaf in Dhaandhoo island in Gaaf Alif Atoll.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) had confirmed the arrest, adding that the arrestee was a 23-year-old male.

He was arrested from Hulhumale’ on Sunday.

Haris is survived by a wife and a child.

RaajjeMV also understands that Haris had sought treatment at the Hulhumale’ halfway house for drug addiction. He was stabbed on route to the halfway house by two assailants on a motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses in Hulhumale’ reported that Haris was transported to the hospital in a pickup.
