Criminal Court has remanded the four individuals arrested in connection to two deaths in Hulhumalé on Thursday night.

The judge passed a remand of 15 days for the four – police had arrested three men and a woman in their investigation into the deaths.

21-year-old Ahmed Hanim and 18-year-old Fathimath Sama had both reportedly drowned while on a trip to Hulhumalé, the capital city’s urban extension.

While officers had found what they called ‘party drugs’ near the scene, they had also apprehended and questioned a number of people the two were friends with.

They had reportedly been in Hulhumalé to celebrate one of their birthdays. Officers confirmed that some of whom were arrested had rented out a room at a guesthouse.
