Raajje Television has sent a letter to the Criminal Court, seeking to live telecast the hearings in the cases that are of public interest.

A letter sent from the station's chief operating officer Hussain Fiyaz Moosa to Adam Arif, chief judge at the Criminal Court, noted that the station believes that there is no obstruction to carrying hearings live, as such hearings are to be open to the public, and as transparently as possible.

Noting that it is the judiciary's responsibility to ensure that justice is served, the letter highlighted the importance of showing the images to the public.

RaajjeTV emphasized that this will help rebuild the public's confidence in the judiciary.

It further noted that hearings have been aired live previously as well, including the hearings held against those who had allegedly planned a terrorist attack on 3rd November 1988.

Hence, RaajjeTV asked for permission to live telecast the hearings in the trials of Dhiggaru constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon and the murder of writer Yameen Rasheed.
