Raajje Television has opened opportunity for governing councils of local islands to participate in the station’s charity telethon for the Rohingya people of Myanmar.

The station has asked those that are interested in seizing said opportunity to call them at their head office in capital city Malé, which is reachable by telephone through +960 3007771.

The telethon will begin at 14:30 on 8th September, and will continue for 24 hours, and all the funds raised through it are to be donated to those displaced in the Rohingya crisis.

Refugees who have escaped the Myanmar recanted stories of massacres in villages, where they detailed that officers of the country’s military had slaughtered several of the Rohingya people.

While Myanmar’s government refuses to allow citizenship for the Rohingya people, who are Muslim and Hindu primarily, they have been subject to immense discrimination in the years leading up to the violence.
