The Coast Guard has searched a total of 92 vessels in its operation to ensure the safety of those travelling by sea ahead of Eid Al-Adha.

Officers of the Maldives National Defence Force had begun inspecting vessels for adherence to marine safety regulations earlier this week on Wednesday.

The operation, which was conducted on vessels docked at Male’ City, concluded on Friday, and officers had scrutinized each vessel for adherence to safety codes, validity of the captain’s license, and status of safety and telecommunications equipment.

The service of 19 vessels had been temporarily suspended and their crew subject to advisement, the Coast Guard revealed.

Officers are to inspect vessels that are will arrive in the city after the ongoing holidays conclude.
