Changing MP Faris case to bureau is illegal: joint opposition
MP Faris’ case is not just

Joint Opposition parties have stated that the decision to transfer the administration of the case on Dhiggaru Constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon to the Judges Bureau at the Criminal Court was illegal.

Speaking in a press conference in Maafannu Kunooz on Tuesday, Maafannu North Constituency MP and lawyer Imthiyaz Fahmy said due to the way the case was proceeding, there was room to believe that influence was creeping in on the case.

MP Imthiyaz said that all trials must be carried out impartially. Therefore, the decision to take the case from the existing bench and to the bureau and was deeply concerning, he said.

The Parliamentarian said the Court was silent on whether a Judge had waived the case or was declared unfit to observe the case. This he said cannot be carried out in that matter.
