"Why is Home Minister Azleen Ahmed not concerned about Ahmed Adeeb's medical condition?" asks the former Vice President's wife, Mariyam Nashwa.

In a tweet sent on Tuesday evening, Nashwa asked why the Home Minister had not visited Adeeb to check on his health, adding why the family and lawyers are not being given the opportunity to even meet with.

They noted that doctors have said that the cyst could turn cancerous if not treated, adding that Adeeb's cyst in the same spot as his sibling, who had died due to cancer complications.

Adeeb was sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison, on multiple charges of graft and terrorism.

Qasim was admitted to hospital on Thursday afternoon, and was sentenced to three years, two months and 12 days that night, at around 1:15 am. The Criminal Court verdict also ordered authorities to grant Qasim medical leave, for the required medical attention.

While doctors' have advised that Qasim be sent abroad for medical attention which is not available in Maldives, Minister Azleen had assured that the procedures to allows Qasim to fly will be completed over the next few days.
