Court orders to make arrangements to send MP Qasim abroad
Verdict notes MP Qasim needed to be sent abroad for medical tests

Criminal Court has ordered that Maamigili Constituency MP Qasim Ibrahim must be sent off to medical treatment, even though he has been sentenced.

The order was issued in the Criminal Court verdict issued in the early hours Friday. The same verdict had sentenced MP Qasim to three years, two months and 12 days in jail.

The verdict stated that MP Qasim’s defense had presented a letter from the doctors which said that MP Qasim faced life threatening arrhythmia, if the treatment is delayed. The verdict, Judge Adam Arif said should not be a bar for the MP to seek medical treatment. Therefore, the Court ordered relevant state bodies to facilitate the necessary arrangements.
