Bank of Maldives (BML) has revealed that the USD 1,500 limit issued for Umrah pilgrims can only be used in Saudi Arabia.

The country's national bank revealed that it has decided to provide a limit of USD 1,500 on debit cards for all customers traveling for Umrah during the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan and the first six days of Shawwal.

The limit issued to the card can only be used in Saudi Arabia, and the limit is set to be issued for one debit card per customer.

The bank said that to facilitate this for Umrah pilgrims traveling with Umrah groups, they have shared detailed instructions with Umrah groups on how to proceed with this matter.

Therefore, the bank has advised individuals traveling for Umrah through Umrah groups to contact their respective groups. The bank has stated that for Umrah pilgrims traveling individually, not as part of a group, they will adjust card limits upon submission of passport copy and ticket copy through the BML mobile app five days prior to departure (excluding bank holidays).

BML highlighted that in addition to the USD 1,500 limit set for debit cards, customers will also receive the current monthly limit of USD 250 for debit cards. In addition to card limits, BML says they will also sell USD 500 to all Umrah pilgrims from the bank, just like now.
