The ice plants previously contracted to Fenaka Corporation during the previous administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih have been transferred to the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) on Saturday.
The decision to transfer the ice plants from Fenaka to MIFCO was made during a special ceremony held on Saturday.
At the ceremony marking this agreement between Fenaka and MIFCO, Managing Director Mohamed Najah signed on behalf of Fenaka.
CEO of MIFCO Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov signed the agreement on behalf of his company.
MIFCO stated that their technical and engineering teams are already working on restoring all ice plants to their operational capacity.
The CEO of MIFCO also revealed that the change is a crucial step in strengthening MIFCO's service capabilities, and acknowledged everyone's cooperation in implementing this transition more effectively than before.

When it was decided to transfer 14 ice plants under MIFCO's control, in a message sent to the media by the company, it stated that technical and engineering teams are working to bring these ice plants under MIFCO's supervision and resume services.
Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam stated at the People’s Majlis last Tuesday that all ice plants will be transferred under MIFCO's supervision.
When the decision was made to transfer 14 ice plants under MIFCO, Fenaka stated that this would significantly improve the quality of services provided by MIFCO.
