Ex-Pres. Nasheed’s admiration for MP Faris’ ‘calm resilience’

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has praised Dhiggaru Constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon for his ‘calm resilience’, in the face of his indefinite detention.

In a tweet posted on Sunday, the former President said that he admired the MP ‘for his calm resilience’ and urged to ‘never give in’. He added that ‘together we will rebuild our democracy’.

In the tweet Nasheed had welcomed MPs Ameeth, Saud and Waheed on their release

Nasheed had previously commended the Parliamentarian.

MP Faris has been under arrest for the past month on charges of attempted bribery of Parliamentarians; formal charges were filed only last week.

He has been an active member in the opposition, spearheading the motion of no confidence on Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh.
